Greely Hockey Boosters Meeting August 9, 2005

 

Attendance: Maria Bowden, Ruth Stevenson, Damian Bolduc, Carol Saucier, Joel Harris, Tallie Harris, David Swan, Jane Swan, Fred Miller

 

Treasurer’s Report: no changes, no expenses    Maria Bowden

 

Secretary’s Report: June 21, previous meeting notes motion to accept by Carol Saucier, seconded by Damian Bolduc and accepted by the Boosters

 

Committee Reports

Cookbook sales continue with plans to sell at North Yarmouth Fun Day

 

Middle School Dances will be organized by Robyn Barnes and Mary McDonald with the first dance on September 30th. They will be seeking volunteer chaperones and freshmen hockey players for drink table.

 

Golf Tournament - This year’s tournament had the most teams reported of the Greely golf tournaments. Boosters will consider increased focus on auction items for next year.

 

Girls Sanctioning - Jack Hardy, previous AD, will assist in initial presentation of girls sanctioning proposal to the school board.

 

Programs

Boys- Summer League went well with two full teams in the league with successful play. Thirteen new freshmen all got a good deal of ice time this summer. Thanks to Matt and Damian for taking on two teams.

 

JV- JV team will need new jerseys. Coach will review specifics

 

Middle School - John Hart, John McDonald and Dianne Gray will coach the A team this year. Tom Beckman will coach the B team. There will be a mandatory parent information meeting for middle school on Monday, September 19th at 8 p.m. with registration taking place before and after from 7 to 9pm. Further info to follow.

 

Old Business

Alumni Fund - This program needs a parent to organize this year. This is a successful fundraiser, previously run by a senior parent. The donations have included a full-page ad book ad.

 

New Business

Greely Hockey Boosters has donated $100 ($50 from girls program, $50 from boys program) to ‘Sarge,’ new Greely mascot, based on Army Rangers from WWII.

 

North Yarmouth Family Fun Day - Janice Selig is organizing volunteers to staff a hockey table. Raffle tickets and cookbooks will be sold and Janice will need baked goods to sell. Consider using recipes from the cookbook.

 

Caribbean Raffle Tickets - Dave Swan will continue to co-chair this committee to represent the girls’ program. The Boosters will need a volunteer from the boys’ program to co-chair.

 

Fundraising Ideas - The Boosters need new ideas and people willing to participate

 

Forest Lake is currently 80 degrees. Many Thanks to the Swans for holding this Booster meeting at The Swan Dive.
