treasurer’s report and several issues were discussed, i.e. middle school ice
payments, Caribbean raffle funds, donations, tournaments, player name plates for
the varsity locker room, excess summer hockey funds and insurance. The
approximately $800 extra collected in summer hockey program fees were
distributed as stipends to the three coaches: Matt Gilbert, Damian Bolduc and
Brad Leighton. Bowden noted Treasurer Greg Leighton will contact the team
administrators for each program to verify ice usage upon receipt of invoices
prior to paying them. Damian Bolduc motioned, Sue Blais seconded. Report
accepted.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
• Caribbean Raffle - Godin
reported: $1,700 in ticket sales collected to date; additional ticket-sale
proceeds and any unsold tickets should be sent to the appropriate fund-raising
coordinator, Girls Coordinator Swan or Boys Coordinator Godin; all 250 tickets
have been distributed.
• Ad Book - Harwood reported: 10 pages of ads had been sold to date; she will
be meeting soon with Jane Shavel and Jane Swan to begin laying out the ad book;
last-minute ads are still welcome.
• Alumni Fundraiser - Bisbing reported: fund-raising letters had been mailed
to alumni and their families; return envelopes for donations were provided in
the mailing; she and Jeff Daigle will begin following up the letter with phone
calls in late November; a party sponsored by Greater Portland Realty will follow
the alumni vs. varsity game on Dec. 29.
IV.
PROGRAM REPORTS
• High School Boys Varsity -
Bowden reported: the parents’ meeting was held Nov. 3; the first
regular-season game will be Dec. 11 at Kennebec Ice Arena versus Win-Dale; the
pre-season Icebreaker tournament will be held the weekend of Nov. 26; all
registration fees must be paid before skaters step on the ice for the first
practice on Nov. 22; emails concerning the annual Sherbrooke trip will be
distributed in November and responses will be needed as quickly as possible.
• Junior Varsity - Damian Bolduc reported: the jv schedule could consist of as
many as 20 games; the Dec. 11 jv game against Gray/New Gloucester at Hebron
Academy has been rescheduled to noon; the jv team is scheduled to play in
tournaments over Christmas break and at the end of the regular season.
• Girls - Hawkins reported: the team had held four practices to date and
defeated Cheverus 4-1 in a scrimmage; 22 players are on the roster, roughly the
same as a year ago; the roster and schedule are posted on the web site; the team
held its pre-season dinner; Nate Waring, who played at John Bapst, has been
added to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
V.
OLD BUSINESS
• Clothing Sales - Bowden
reported that Rose Spaulding is preparing a clothing order form that will be
posted on the web site.
• Cookbook Fundraiser - Hurley
agreed to coordinate this fundraiser for the girls program with assistance from
Scannell and Filliter. The plan is to solicit roughly 300 recipes from the
hockey community by the first of the year and place them in a hardcover book
published by a company specializing in this type of fundraiser. The book will
sell for $10-15 with the goal of selling between 400 and 500 copies. Selling
roughly 250 copies would cover the printing costs. The booster association
agreed to front the money for the printing costs. Someone is needed to help
design a cover. Anyone interested in helping with the project is encouraged to
contact Hurley.
VI.
NEW BUSINESS
• Pete Blais volunteered to be
the varsity clock/scoresheet coordinator this season. He is looking for
volunteers to help operate the clock and fill out the scoresheet during games.
• Bowden is checking into the possibility of developing season passes for
varsity games and a tourney pass for the upcoming Icebreaker Tournament.
• Hawkins noted that NYA and FIC are no longer providing pucks for practices
and that coaches must bring their own. He has a number of extra pucks if coaches
need to replenish their supply. He also asked about the availability of water
bottles. Damian Bolduc plans to see if some are available that were not used
last year.
