By-Laws
Maria Bowden, Paul Godin: Thank you to Tim Norton for looking over and
making suggested changes to the by-laws. The revised by-laws were passed
out and the changes were reviewed by the members present. Tom Allen made a
motion to adopt the new by-law revisions. Damian Bolduc
seconded the motion. A vote was taken and passed with none opposed.
Ad Book-Pam Harwood:
The projected income on the ad book at this point is $5,476 with expenses
totaling $804.17 with a profit of $4,671.83 (Boys-$2,090 Program-$925. Girls
$680, Program $130). The yearbooks are sold for $2 and can be purchased at
varsity games. We have sold about 33 so far. Varsity boys and girls
were expected to sell $90 worth of ads or pay $90. To date there is one
boy who has not done this and 16 girls. Those people will be contacted via email
by Pam Harwood. Payment is now the only option for these players and is
expected by Feb. 1st. There was some discussion regarding the golf
tournament ads and t-signs regarding whether the girls should get credit for the
t-signs they may have brought in which they have been credited for at this
point. The golf committee will make sure this process if explained
more clearly in the future.
Scholarship: Applications have been given to the coaches for senior
players interested in applying for this $500 scholarship. The deadline is
March 15. The scholarship committee will be comprised of two alumni and
two faculty members.
Middle School Dances: The last dance on Dec. 19 profited $621.
The next dance will be Feb. 6.
Golf Tournament: The date will be June 21st at Val Halla (this has been
confirmed). There will be an organizational meeting for the committee in
March.
IV: PROGRAMS
Girls: There was a girls parent meeting tonight following the girls
practice to discuss the future of girls ice hockey at Greely and sanctioning.
There are currently 17 teams, with 8 of them being sanctioned by their schools.
The MPA requires 10-12 teams to be school sanctioned before they will sanction
girl's hockey as an MPA sport. There were concerns brought forward about the
effects that sanctioning would have on the boys program. Mainly with Title
IX and the school funding. Although sanctioning will effect the boys program
eventually, it would most likely be a gradual transition. A proposal needs
to be created by the girl's parents who want to move for sanctioning and
presented to the Booster Club and Jack Hardy. Parents wishing to move
forward on sanctioning need to form a committee, if you are interested contact
Nick Knight @ nknight1@maine.rr.com.
Parental involvement (girls parents) is essential in the steps need to move
forward in this process. No involvement = No Sanctioning!
Varsity Boys-Barry: The season is going well, our record is 6-4 at this
time. There are nine games left in the regular season. Bicycles are
now
in the locker room. The team looks good with their new gloves and shells.
JV Boys-Damian: They have played 7 games so far, and have 5 more games to fill. The season is going well so far.
Middle School-Maria: All is well.
V: OLD BUSINESS
Boy's Canada Trip: The weekend went well. Due to the number of
people attending, the budget was over by $419.
Carribean Raffle-Spence: Thank you for the Bisbing's for their generous
donation of the condo in the Turks and Caicos for this raffle item, and to
Spence for all the work he did in making this so successful. All 250
tickets were sold. The boys sold 163 tickets with a profit of $4,890 and
the girls sold 87 tickets with a profit of $2,610. The expenses will be
about $319.55. Spence will offer the condo again next year if we choose,
but someone else will have to organize it all.
Maine HS Tournament: Thank you to all who volunteered to work at the
various duties during this tournament. We received $400 for helping out.
Booster Members Dues: Listed on the first page (below attendance) are all
the paid booster members. If you would like to vote during meetings you
must be a member. The cost is $2.50 a year (expires Nov 1) and you must
wait 30 days after payment before you can vote.
VI: NEW BUSINESS
Locker room renovation-Susan & Barry: We had voted $1,000 in the
budget for locker room repairs. We will have a storage cabinet built and a
bracket system to hang game jersey on. Greg Soper gave us an estimate of
$1,050 and has begun the work.
Microsoft Publisher-Pam: The yearbook is created on this program and for
the last two years has been done at one persons house who had this program
already. That person is moving and we would like to purchase this program
and register it in the booster organization's name to use for the future
programs. The cost will be appx. $300. Spence Bisbing made a motion
to purchase microsoft publlisher. Bruce McKay seconded the motion. A
vote was taken and passed with none opposed.
Website-Ralph: Ralph would like to create a "Ranger Pride" page
where players, coaches, parents can post quotes, poems, inspirational messages,
etc. You will be receiving information about this soon. The website
looks great and gets about 50-100 hits a day.
